Promoting Excellence In Psychological Health & Wellbeing

The Counselling Community of Practice was established in 2014 and had its first meeting on the 12th of June 2014 in Manchester attended by 50 counsellors. We now hold a data base of over 170 members working in statutory and third sector organisations in the North West who see NHS patients in a variety of primary/secondary care or TTad services. Since that point the Counselling CoP has held a variety of events, seminars and meetings and continues to liaise locally and nationally.

 Aims

The aims of the network were established at the inaugural meeting and are as follows:

  • to promote the contribution of the counselling profession to NHS patients.
  • to encourage networking and the development of professional leadership.
  • to support continuation of professional development.
  • to contribute to the aims and objectives of PPN North West as part of the Centre for Professional Workforce Development.

Meetings

It is our aim to organise at least two meetings a year if not held in venues in the North West then offered on Teams. Details of these meetings are provided to members of the group by the network.

Steering Group

Meetings and events are organised by our Steering Group; Priya Patel, Adam Booth, Christine Goody and Helen Dawson.
