In November the Psychological Professions Network (PPN) marked its sixth national Psychological Professions Week (PP Week), with events delivered across the country. On Thursday 13th November, the East of England hosted The 3 Shifts in Action- a session to highlight the good practice from across the region, demonstrating the work of psychological professions in support of the three shifts.

The session included:

  • Using digital innovation to enhance access, experience and outcomes in NHS Talking Therapies services for anxiety and depression (Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust)
  • The pioneering use of Assistant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists to meaningfully bolster the CYP workforce (East London Foundation Trust)
  • Presenting the 'Birthing Alongside Fear' resource produced by perinatal colleagues (Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust)

 

Participant Feedback

Attendees joined to learn about digital innovation, new developments in different areas of psychology, and better understanding of the assistant child and adolescent psychotherapist (ACAPT) role.

Participants described the session as informative, eye-opening, and highly relevant to their clinical work.

Key learning included:

  • The importance of psychological therapy in mental wellbeing
  • The path into Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (CAPT) and role of the assistants within CAMHS settings
  • How digital innovations can be used in psychology.
  • Understanding the tokophobia resource and confident to share this
